Trauma Awareness & Resilience Training for Teachers and Youth Workers


This two day, 12 hour workshop was built in partnership with the Boston Public Health Commission (BPHC) and will feature curriculum from their in Defending Childhood Initiative with the goal of engaging educators and youth workers in crafting spaces that will promote resilience and protective factors for children and promote trauma-informed systems in education and program spaces where youth seek support and learning.

This Trauma Informed Workshop is tailored for folks who have completed or are enrolled to complete our Systemic Racism Legacy Education or Confronting Systemic Racism course by the date of offering and are interested in ways to build trauma informed skills and combining those skills with their classroom and programmatic work. A percentage of spots will be saved for the alumni community of ARC for this purpose. 

The sessions will include:

  • Two 6-hour sessions (attendance to both is mandatory)
  • Classroom management skills that are trauma informed.
  • Overview of modelabale techniques to support teachers and youth workers in taking conversations with youth to spaces of self-regulation and engagement.
  • Resource Booklet and certification provided upon completion.

Tuition: $150 with sliding scale available upon request. The proceeds of this training will fund food and equipment for the training and enable ARC to full provide trauma informed spaces in all of its courses from 2018 forward.
