Confronting Systemic Racism

Are you looking to understand the dynamics of systemic racism so that you can better learn about the next step in taking a stance for racial justice in your personal life? Are you looking to move beyond talking about racism and social oppression?

This course will focus on how to bridge a deepening understanding of personal and structural racism into commitments and a solid plan to move forward!

Please join us for an intimate 5-week course facilitated by local community leaders. All are welcome but please note the course takes an explicit view that transforming both ourselves and our society into a racially just place implicates a responsibility in white and privileged folks to engage in this work more robustly.

Cost of all sessions $70. Need based scholarships available on request.

Confronting Systemic Racism

5 Wednesdays 6:30 -8:30 pm from January 10th in Cambridge, MA

Systemic Racism & The Legacy of Education

In Greater Boston, as well as nationally, the reality that local schools, K-12 and colleges alike, have been failing students of color and marginalized communities through oppressive policies and over-exhausted resources is undeniable and this needs to change.

Between the BPS Walkout rejecting the budget cuts to student-lead protests, raising the profile of racial disparities through social media campaigns including #BeingBlackAtBostonLatin, and the matter of Question 2,  it is clear that students have had it with the imposition of rhetoric instead of remedies.

To support educators and administrators response to the student call for change, this program will provide the means for teachers, parents, administrators, para-professionals, after-school staff, and related service providers who work in various levels of youth engagement to connect and gain skills that will enable them to show up for their communities. Over 10-weeks, the participants will be guided through the systems at play enforcing racism within education and will construct an action plan that will they bring into the classroom and beyond.

Cost for the 5-week class is $70, 10-week class is $140.

Sliding-Scale Scholarships available on request.
